Manicure trends

With the winter chill in the air, many of us are wrapped up from head to toe (masks included) which is why it’s even more important to ensure your nails are looking top-notch! If you’re keen to try something a bit different and stand out, it’s worth trying some of the year’s leading manicure trends. Here are our 10 favourites!

Top 10 manicure trends

1.       Geometric art manicure

For something incredibly dramatic and bold, you can try the latest geometric art manicure. You’re free to choose whatever colour range you like, as long as it includes bold shapes and sharp lines. You can be as creative as you like with this one, making a statement on just one nail or on all of them.

2.       Bling manicure

If you want to enjoy the life of a superstar every day, then try the latest bling manicure. Bejewelled nails can be decorated in crystals of various sizes and numbers, with a glitter backing for extra pizzaz. Your encrusted talons will certainly set you apart!

3.       Double French tip manicure

This is a fancy new take on the classic French manicure – sophisticated yet really stylish. Include some colour in the tip – or even two colours along the tip. Alternatively, you can add a colour lining around the edge of the nail, or at the base, as well as on the nail tip.

4.       Colour block French manicure

Another take on the classic French manicure is using two colours over the entire nail – one colour on the tip and a contrasting colour below. This is a bold yet fun look that works with a variety of outfits and moods. The most popular look at the moment is in the blue tones – a thin strip of turquoise on a pastel base for example.

5.       Neon manicure

If you’re looking to really bring some life and colour this winter then you can opt for a neon manicure. Glow stick yellow, electric orange or magenta – whatever your colour preference, make it really pop!

6.       Checkerboard manicure

Chess boards, starting lines at the races, or even winter gingham could be your inspiration for this exciting new manicure trend. You can opt for the straightforward black and white checkerboard or go with a more colourful gingham-shaded solution.

7.       Naked manicure

If you’re looking for something really sophisticated but understated, then the naked manicure trend is just for you. Similar to the French manicure, the naked manicure has less colour and much finer details, while still leaving your nails looking attractive.

8.       Animal print manicure

This is one trend that never seems to disappear, and with good reason! Although wildlife has somehow taken a back seat to farmyard animal prints. That’s right, cow-print manicures are now in trend. However, that’s not to say we won’t be seeing the popular leopard and zebra print around.

9.       Velvet manicure

For those of you who like something a bit different, then the velvet manicure is a must-try this winter. Created by American-based nail artist, Amy Le, velvet manicures can be created with any colour, it’s the finish of the manicure that actually achieves the velvety look rather than an actual velvety feel.

10.   Themed manicure

This will require quite a few changes, but those who are dedicated to their nail look are now keeping up with current affairs and happenings. A voting tick on the nail for election season, green nails for St Paddy’s Day or favourite sports’ teams logos on match days…this is for the truly committed!
